Theater Dortmund within the framework of Jungeopern Rhein-Ruhr
The Theater Bonn and its two cooperation partners - the Deutsche Oper am Rhein and the Theater Dortmund - are aiming to award joint composition projects for children's theater on a large stage. After the successful start with Marius Felix Langes of the GIRLS, who did not want to sleep in the season 2013/14, the second commissioner managed to get the coveted rights for the sounding of Astrid Lindgren's Ronja Räubertochter.
"Do not let yourself be beaten, be naughty and wild and wonderful!" - This motto of Astrid Lindgren also applies to the heroine of her last novel. "The night, when Ronja was born, the thunder rolled over the mountains. Yes, it was a thunderstorm that all the monsters who lived in the Mattiswald were scared. "On a castle in the forest, Ronja, the daughter of the robber chief Mattis, grows up. One day she meets Birk, the robber's son from the opposing clan of Borka. When the parents forbid the two to be friends, Ronja and Birk fled into the woods ...
Librettist Holger Potocki has partly altered the chronology of the book and intertwined different scenes and thereby created the dramatic compilation, which composer Jörn Arnecke (* 1973) needed for his atmospheric family opera. In Tatjana Ivschina's fantastic stage pictures and lovingly designed costumes, director Johannes Schmid tells the adventures of growing up with lots of wit and imagination.
